The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an aptitude test conducted to assess the English language efficiency of applicant who desires to pursue their higher education, want to work or apply for immigration in English Speaking countries.

IELTS is acceptable in most of the Foreign Countries like UK, USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, IRELAND, NEW ZEALAND, DUBAI, SINGAPORE, GERMANY and other European countries. 

What is the IELTS test like?
IELTS examination is regulated by British Counsel, IDP, and Cambridge English
IELTS is a paper based test.
IELTS examination has two types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General
IELTS assesses four language skills :Listening, Reading, Writingand Speaking.
IELTS Academic is for test taker wishing to study at undergraduate, post graduate and Doctorate levels and for those seeking professional registration.
IELTS General is for test takers who desire to migrate for work purpose to any English speaking country.

Both the Applicant have common test for listening & speaking But differ in Reading & writing

The total test is for 2:45 minutes

Level and scores
In IELTS, the score is graded in Multi-level. The score is calculated in band depending upon no of correct answers. The score is graded from 0 to 9 bands.
Half scores such as 6.5 are possible.
To qualify for most of the Universities, you need to score 6.5 or 7 band.
Some universities may also demand a minimum score in each of the 4 sections.
Mode of Exam: IELTS is paper based examination
Validity of IELTS: IELTS score is valid for 2 years. One can request a rescore up to 3 months after your test date
EXAM & Result:
Reading, listening, Speaking is conducted on the same day where as speaking may be prior or later of the examination date
You have to book the examination 15 - 30 days prior and passport is mandatory to appear for IELTS.
The result is declared after 13 days on British council website/ IDP Website and the mark sheet is delivered after in a week.
